A few upcoming EM August DJ Gigs!
June 09, 2008 by E.M. August
Hey all, I have a few DJ gigs coming up in the next month or two.
One is at Smartbar on June 25th, and will be part of a new Wednesday night weekly / Monthly my wonderful friend Kristin is helping to put together. There aren't many details thus far but it should be a great time. Reasons to come out?
I will be spinning new Torrent Vaccine!!! Oh, and I will be spinning new Breath And Decay!!! lets not forget, there will be a few cuts off of Cyanotic Presents: Gears Gone Wild!!! The perks of running a record label! (Enough exclamations yet?)
The second DJ gig I have coming up will be on July 12th at the Metal Mergence event hosted by Monstermangraphic & Metal Mondays! Not only will Cyanotic be laying it down heavy for the metal heads, but I will get to excersize my youth by busting out the best in industrial metal + coldwave. A little Prong maybe? Some Ministry.. of course! How about some lesser known treats like NC17? Virus 23? Salvo? Definately some 16volt cause after all, we go back with them boys! This should be a great time!
More details will be posted on these events as they become available. Also, anyone planning on coming out is welcomed to send requests to me here - I don't bring a ton of spare music so it is much more likely that I will work your track in if you hit me up here :]
Hope everyone is well!
Take a breath...

The first officially released Breath And Decay track!
May 29th, 2008 by E.M. August
I am really excited to announce that we are officially releasing our first track ever on Cyanotic's new compilation - Cyanotic Presents: Gears Gone Wild. The track is called Alive Right Now and it is a straight up EBM thumper, the way we do in Chicago. The compilation is 20 tracks long and has something like 17 original unrelease tracks from artists like 16volt, Cyanotic, Acumen Nation, Dj? Acucrack, Rabbit Junk, Prude (the new Jared Louche project with members of Cyanotic and Caustic!!!) as well as a bunch of other really cool stuff.
What makes this comp extra cool is that it is priced at a budget 6.98 and to make sure you get every pennies worth, you can preview the ENTIRE COMPILATION during the pre-order period at www.bitriotrecords.com.
In other news, I am back at NUM studios on Saturday to continue wrapping this beast of an album up. If I don't have a disc in hand by reverence, I will be dissapointed. Madison, you deserve this!

Quarterly Update, Hah!
March 9th, 2008 by E.M. August
Sorry for not updating this place more often! I have been hard at work on this debut record "Still Life And Waking Dreams", which is not much different than where I was a half year ago. People have been asking what the delay is and the answer to that is basically life.
To be a bit less cryptic, the record has been embroiled in production at NUM studios for a very long time. Much of this has to do with the fact that I am no longer able to work on a whim, no, schedules must be checked and slots must be booked. This is of course, how thing work when your production team is in a busy studio supporting 3 other releases as well. And I wouldn't change my circumstances for anything!
In other news, I updated the website a bit today, but honestly, until I have a record out, some music to post and some photo's to share, it is going to be a bit barren around here. I will try and focus next month on the process section and talk a bit about what my studio experience is as of late.
Ok, that's it for now, thanks for checking in and please keep Breath And Decay on your radar... We aren't far out from something very special!

Changes afoot!
April 14th, 2008 by E.M. August
So hey, there are some really cool things finally coming to fruition. You may have noticed that we have a new logo design. We loved the old cursive logo, but we felt it was a bit soft so we moved to this new design (seen above or at our myspace) that combines the cursive and a grittier wording. A new logo means we are closer to getting some new merch! We will of course let you know when that is available.
In other news, we have finally posted a song on our myspace - it's about time right? The song is called "The Hidden Potential" and it is a pretty aggressive dance track. I can't wait to play it out, I think people will have a lot of fun with it, so check it out! The song will also be featured on this wicked new compilation being put together by our friends Cyanotic. This comp will also feature our label mates mindFluxFuneral and Torrent Vaccine!
For more news keep tuned. We should be announcing our full band lineup soon, and we will be posting press photos and more songs as soon as they are ready.

Last Weekend With Assemblage 23
October 20th, 2007 by E.M. August
We would just like to thank everyone that came out last weekend to the first ever Breath and Decay show. We played in Madison with Assemblage 23 and Sensuous Enemy and it was just great. I was really worried that our words would fall on the most cynical sort of deaf ears but the response was abosolutely amazing. Thank you to everyone that came out to the show and gave it up for us. Unfortunately the show marked Dead Beat Productions last national show, but it seems to me throwing awesome parties is a bug and Dead Beat will be back! Either way, Many thanks to Dead Beat and specifically Matt Fanale for years of awesome. To everyone that was asking about merch, February is our target release date, we will be there in no time!
First Post!

Welcome to the brand new BreathAndDecay.com. It's not much now but we will be continuously rolling out updates
in the weeks and months (and years) to come. For now we are going to start with an update to kick off the process
section of the site where I will discuss the day to day occurances and artistry of Breath And Decay.
